Like, it’s seriously a problem. It’s not really that I know a lot of sonnets or go around reciting them, I just REALLY like them. Like like like them.
but i most enjoy writing them
yes. I really do. I guess I now understand why some people like math; it’s a puzzle.
It’s like a hard game of Sudoku but there is no right answer and so many possibilities but only one way of saying exactly what you want.
I love the way there are 14 lines.
1 quatrain about one aspect of the subject
1 quatrain about another
1 quatrain about another
and then a couplet to wrap it all up together with a theme.
And then the rhyming.
abab cdcd efef gg
and the 10 syllables to every line can be tricky for saying just the right thing.
AND THEN THE IAMBIC PENTAMETER
that just makes me wriggle in joy. it’s like playing a puzzle game on hard mode. Now it’s not just 10 syllables but a series of stressed and unstressed syllables. When I’m writing sonnets I’m always tapping the pentamic rhythm.
dee-duh-dee-duh-dee-duh-dee-duh-dee-duh
I mean how can you not love them?? They’re so clever and when you write one you feel so clever and it’s just a clever party.
Maybe I’ll post my most recent one later

I don’t understand. Like I don’t understand how people like parametrics and projectile motion problems.
